Eyelash Extensions
Is my Esthetician trained / certified to apply lash extensions and licensed in Esthetics with the State Board of Cosmetology in New Jersey?
Yes! We only hire licensed Estheticians and Cosmetologists with a certification in lash extension application, then give them the knowledge and guidance to perfect their craft the Wonderlash way!
How do I prepare for my appointment?
If you are getting a full set of lash extensions please plan for 2 1/2 hours. Please come with clean eyes free of all makeup and makeup residue. We ask that you wash your eye area and lashes with an oil free cleanser. If you don't have one we will have you wash your eye area with our product when you get here. If you use an eye makeup remover please wash after use. Having clean oil free lashes is extremely important in order for the adhesive to bond correctly. Secure your investment and don't skimp on this! We can't guarantee your extensions will stay on correctly if you don't.
Depending on your service you will have your eyes closed for up to 2 hours so please wear your glasses if you don't think you will be comfortable for that length of time. We want you to get as many lashes as possible during your service. So, please do not fill up on fluids before your appointment, if you have to use the restroom during your service it will cause a lot of re preparation and time to get you ready for the service again thus, less lashes will be applied. Please be advised, your lash extensions will need to stay dry for the first 8-10 hours from the time your appointment ends, so please take into consideration your bathing, workout and hair washing schedule.
That's it! You are all set to get beautiful lashes!
How do I care for my lash extension?
It is important to take care of your new eyelash extensions. With proper care your natural lashes will remain healthy and strong. Some important points to remember on how to care for your eyelash extensions:
* Keep your lashes dry for the first 8-10 hours after a full set and every fill. No water, No sweat, No rain and No tears!
* Avoid hot steam or saunas immediately afterwards. Allow enough time for the glue to cure.
* Must use oil free products on eye area. This includes eyeliner. Pencils contain oil so a powder, gel or liquid is best. Oil of any kind including your own natural oils will break the glue down and the lashes won't stay on as long as they should.
* Never pick, pull or curl your lashes as this could pull out your natural lash prematurely. This can leave a hole and it will take up to 60 days for a new lash to grow back in.
* Do not rub your eyes / lashes.
* Sleep on your back if possible! Not only good for the lashes but keeps wrinkles away!
* Clean your lashes daily and after a heavy workout with our clean wash foam. When lashes are wet, pump the foam onto your fingers and press into the lashes with your fingers and rinse. Never use washcloths, towelettes, cotton pads or swabs. These will pull out and or get caught in your lashes and cause discomfort. Cleaning your lashes daily is a must! You need to remove natural oils that can break down the adhesive causing your extensions to come off prematurely. You may need to do this a couple of times if you are removing makeup. Dry lashes by pressing a towel gently onto the lashes, do not rub. Feel free to fluff the lashes with a blow dryer on low and cool for a few seconds. The disposable mascara wand you receive at your appointment is very handy when used vertically in a windshield wiper motion to fluff and separate the lashes. Keep a wand in your purse for those moments on the go to help maneuver your extensions into place when they are unruly.
* Water based mascara can be used on your lashes. We recommend this be used sparingly. The removal process is very hard on the extensions and can cause them to come off faster then they should. Never use waterproof mascara as this will not come off the lashes without an oil based remover. Gently, remove mascara with an oil free makeup remover and then wash with the cleanser. Mascara is not needed but for those special occasions it will take your lashes to a whole new level of awesome!
* Fills are very important if you want to maintain your lash extensions. We recommend coming for a fill every 2-3 weeks for a 60 minute fill to keep them looking lush and full. A 90 minute fill is recommended every so often if you go through a shed or want your lash extension to look extra amazing! If you go 4 weeks or more without a fill we recommend a new full set.
* Please ask your Estheticians for any products or tips that can help you stay in your extensions comfortably for an extended period of time.
Can I be allergic?
We use a medical grade adhesive. Some people can be allergic. If you are prone to eye allergies or have sensitive eyes we can use a sensitive version of this adhesive. Otherwise the regular version will be just fine. Only about 5% of people seem to be allergic to one or both of these adhesives. If you have symptoms like red, itchy, peeling or swollen eyelids or red, itchy, burning, irritated eyes after getting lashes, this is an allergic reaction that can last for 3 to 5 days. You may want to contact your doctors office to let them know what is happening and seek their advice as well. In the meantime, take Benadryl and wait it out. It will go away and you will still have beautiful lashes but, it will happen again if you have another application. We can change the adhesive to the sensitive version and do a patch test, applying just a couple of lashes on each eye to see if you still react. It will lessen the reaction by doing it this way if you do. If you are allergic to both adhesives nothing can be done. Removing your lashes is not advised as it could just increase your discomfort and will not stop the reaction. Wait it out and try to enjoy your lashes while you have them.
Will lash extensions damage my natural lashes?
No. When applied correctly and safely as we do at Wonderlash no damage will be caused.
Do my own lashes get damaged?
Damage is caused by untrained, uncertified, in some cases unlicensed individuals claiming they have the education to apply lashes! In most cases, bundle lashes are applied. We do not use bundle lashes as they do not allow your natural lash to shed thus causing breakage and premature fallout of the natural lash resulting in some cases permanent gaps and holes. Bundle lashes should only be applied using a regular cosmetic grade adhesive, NOT a medical grade adhesive.
How long will the lash extensions last?
Your lash extensions can last up to 6 weeks. However, fills are very important if you want to maintain the look of fullness and evenness in your lash extensions. We recommend coming for a fill every 2-3 weeks for a 60 minute fill to keep them looking lush and full. A 90min fill is recommended every so often if you go through a shed or want your lash extension to look extra amazing! If you go 4 weeks or more without a fill we recommend a new full set.
What are my choices in lashes and how are they applied?
Our eyelash extensions are perfect for everyday wear as well as special occasions. They are semi-permanent and made of Synthetic Mink. Each lash is applied one by one to your own natural lashes. With proper care and touchup visits they can last a very long time. Normally a person's natural eyelash falls out every 60 to 90 days and a new lash grows in immediately. Therefore, it is necessary to get touchups to fill in the fallen lashes. About every 2 to 3 weeks is recommended. However, this will vary from person to person. Your natural lash cycle as well as how you take care of your lashes will affect how long they last. Most of our clients have had their extensions for years.
The lashes you pick with the guidance and help from your Esthetician can be changed at your next fill so you are not stuck with anything. Staying on the side of caution is always best. You can bump up length, curl and thickness at your fill appointments. It will take 2 - 3 fills to completely change over but the lashes all intermix well.
How many lashes do I get in a full set / fill appointment?
Most places count lashes saying a full set of lashes is 30 or 40 per eye. A human has 100 to 150 upper lashes and sometimes more. It seems ridiculous to charge for a full set if the person is not getting close to the amount they naturally have. In this case, not even close. At Wonderlash we strive for perfection and we will never count lashes. Our goal is to apply as many lashes as possible, to create the illusion every lash has an extension, thus looking full, lush and spectacular! Worthy of a full set price.
Semi-Permanent Makeup
What is microblading?
Microblading is cosmetic tattoo-ing but is semipermanent. They implant pigment beneath the skin with tiny needles clustered together to mimic a blade. Through this, we’re able to replicate hair strokes by making tiny cuts into the skin.
How long does the procedure take?
The length of time varies on a client to client basis. Not everyone’s eyebrows are exactly the same. Some are very thick, very thin or non-existent. Some appointments can take one a half hours to up to three hours. This depends how much needs to be done or discussed prior to the procedure starting.
Are there any skincare products I need to stay away from during the healing process?
During the healing process, you do not want to use any acne cleansers because they typically have salicylic acid and glycolic acid in them, which can compromise your pigment and color retention. If you do wash your eyebrow area, using Dial Gold is highly recommended.
After everything is healed, can you get your eyebrows waxed still? Can you still fill them in a bit with a pencil if you want?
Waxing can take speed up the exfoliation process around the eyebrow as well as increased skin cell turnover leading to your pigment fading faster. Threading is a great alternative that will give you a perfect, clean shape without causing trauma to the skin.
How long does the semipermanent pigment last?
It can last up to one to three years but also varies on a client by client basis.
I got my eyebrows microbladed and it didn't last as long as they said it would. Any idea why that could be?
Contributing factors include pigment color [the lighter the color, the faster it will fade], lifestyle [sun exposure will speed up the pigmentation fading process; always put SPF 30 on your eyebrows], and iron deficiencies [if you’re iron deficient, your body can absorb the pigment as an supplement which will cause the pigment to fade faster], age [if you’re young, your skin cell turnover is faster so the pigment will last longer].
Do you have any follow-up visits? If so, how many?
Following your first session, it’s required to get a touch up within 6 to 8 weeks. This is to ensure that your eyebrows healed properly and to refine and darken any pigment in any places that need perfecting. Any follow-ups after the first one depends on your personal preference and depends how sharp and defined or soft and natural you want your eyebrows to look.
Is it safe for all skin types?
Absolutely! The only contradiction that would keep you from being a candidate is if you had a compromised eyebrow area like sunburn, dermatitis or on Accutane [can’t for 12 months because it thins the skin] or getting chemotherapy. Can slow down healing process and comprises your healing process. As a precaution, if you are pregnant or nursing, you cannot be microbladed. Anyone with liver disease is at a higher risk for infection. We requires a doctor’s note for anyone with diabetes, high blood pressure, autoimmune disease and thyroid or graves disease – if you have allergies, a patch test can be performed upon request in order to ensure that you won’t have any reaction to products used during the microblading process.
What happens during a semi-permanent make-up procedure?
Before you decide whether or not to go ahead with semi-permanent make-up you will need to have a consultation with our technician to make sure you are suitable for treatment and to discuss your goals and expectations. A medical history should be taken and you will be asked to fill in a consent form to say you fully understand the procedure and its associated risks and complications. Your practitioner may also take photographs to use as a before and after comparison later.
Your consultation may be done on the same day or on a different day to your treatment. In some cases, a topical anaesthetic may be used to minimise discomfort during treatment. Then our technician will mark out the area being treatment with a cosmetic pencil to act as a guideline. The pigments are then placed under the skin using a very fine needle attached to a hand held electrical device.
Your treatment may take anywhere between half an hour and two hours depending on the area(s) you are having treated. You will usually need to come in for more than one appointment to achieve the right result as the pigments may be absorbed and needs to be retouched.
How long your results last will vary depending on how quickly your body absorbs the pigment but can be anywhere between three months to two years.
What are the aftercare instructions for a semi-permanent make-up procedure?
For the aftercare is very important to the performed area to be healed for the first week

Waxing
What is waxing & how does it work?
Waxing is a popular depilatory method where hair is removed from the roots for longer lasting results. Wax is applied to the skin and clings to the hairs. When wax is removed, the hairs are stuck to the wax, leaving your skin smooth. Hair regrowth becomes softer and results last longer than other forms of hair removal.
How long does waxing keep my skin hair free?
Waxing can keep your skin hair free for up to 3-5 weeks; however results can vary with each person due to different hair types and how frequently you wax.
What is the difference between Hard Wax and Strip Wax?
Hard Wax (Salon Wax or Salon Wax Sensitive) is a peel off wax applied thickly on the skin and removed with your fingertips. It is used for waxing sensitive & delicate areas such as eyebrows, upper lip, facial waxing, underarms, bikini line & Brazilian waxing.
Strip Wax (Warm Wax or Aquawax Roll on Kit) is applied thinly and removed with a waxing strip; this is great for larger areas of skin such as the legs, arms, back, chest and some facial waxing.
How do I prepare my skin before waxing?
Always test a small part of the area to be waxed 24hrs before to ensure no skin irritation occurs. Hair growth needs to be at least 2mm from the skins surface so the wax can adhere to the hair. Longer hair should be trimmed to 5mm before waxing. Area to be treated must be clean, dry and free from any oils and creams. If your wax isn’t picking up all the hairs it may be because there are too many dead skin cells that the wax is sticking to rather than the hair. Exfoliating the skin daily will remove theses dead skin cells and let the wax adhere to the hair properly.
Should I shower before wax?
No, always avoid waxing immediately after a shower or hot bath. The warm water will open your pores but it will also soften your skin making it more likely to bruise or become irritated when waxed. Wait an hour or two before commencing your waxing treatment.
Does waxing hurt?
The amount of discomfort experienced when waxing depends on the individual. Waxing offers an affordable way to keep skin smooth for longer periods than shaving so you don’t have to wax as often. A tingling sensation can be felt immediately after waxing, this is the tiny nerve endings in your hair follicles reacting to the removal of the hair, and this will pass in seconds. After regular waxing the discomfort lessens because the hair follicle becomes weaker.
How do I remove Strip Wax?
Use a Waxaway Wax Strip, available in a 24pk or included in Waxaway Waxing Essentials Pack. Simply smooth the strip over the wax you have applied in the direction of hair growth. Press firmly to ensure the wax has adhered to all the hairs. Hold skin taut with your other hand to avoid bruising. Remove your wax strip quickly in the opposite direction to hair growth and as close to the skin as possible.
What are my choices in lashes and how are they applied The wax breaks off in pieces when I try to remove it, why did this happen?
This will happen when the wax cools down too much on your skin. For peel off waxes, such as Waxaway Salon Wax, it’s best to wait until the wax it touch dry, this will only take 15-20 seconds. The wax must still be flexible like plasticine when you remove it.
Why doesn't my wax wash off with water?
Waxes are made from resins, which are an oil based product. This means you need an After Waxing Oil to dissolve the wax if you want to remove it from your skin. Alternatively you can use any gentle oil based product (such as olive oil or vegetable oil) to remove wax residue. Waxaway Warm Wax and Aquawax Roll on Kit are the only Waxaway products that are water/sugar based, which allows themto be washed off with water.
No hair is being remove, what is going wrong?
If you have not exfoliated the skin the day prior the first few attempts will really only be removing all the dead skin rather than grabbing the hair. Ensure your skin is clean and free from sweat, oils and moisturizers so the wax can adhere to the hairs. Your hairs might also be too short for the wax to grab, try waiting a few days to let your hairs grow.

What is involved in a Vampire Facelift?
The Vampire Facelift requires a small amount of blood, specifically the PRP, or platelet rich plasma component of your own blood. Vials are placed in a centrifuge and spun at high speeds. This separates the red cells from plasma which is a yellow liquid.Plasma is key to helping your body heal from wounds. Platelets contain concentrated amounts of proteins that afford amazing healing effects to injured organs, including the skin, the body’s largest organ. When someone receives a PRP treatment, whether by microneedling or injection, the serum immediately starts to promote collagen production and stem cell growth, which encourage the creation of new skin cells at a faster than normal pace.
How long before the results of a Vampire Facelift are visible?
Some swelling may occur that lasts two to three weeks, after which patients will see much less wrinkling, healthier skin tone and firmer skin. Most people see visible vampire facelift before and after improvement within four weeks and sometimes sooner, depending on the type of skin condition being treated. In addition, skin becomes more radiant and luminescent as pores shrink and the skin’s matrix tightens to create smoother, younger-looking skin.
Is Micro-Needling painful?
A generous layer of a topical numbing agent applied before the microneedling with PRP treatment begins and prevents the procedure from being truly painful. Microneedling is the rapid penetration of the skin by 12 very tiny, thin needles that deposit platelet rich plasma into the skin’s dermis. This microneedling action also creates “micro-injuries” which makes the skin think it is suffering an injury. Because the skin wants to initiate repairs as soon as possible, it starts producing new collagen around these microneedling sites, promoting rejuvenation and inducing tightening of loose skin.
What is a HIFU Facial?
HIFU uses focused ultrasound energy to target the layers of skin just below the surface. The ultrasound energy causes the tissue to heat up rapidly.
Once the cells in the targeted area reach a certain temperature, they experience cellular damage. While this may seem counterintuitive, the damage actually stimulates the cells to produce more collagen — a protein that provides structure to the skin.
The increase in collagen results in tighter, firmer skin with fewer wrinkles. Since the high-frequency ultrasound beams are focused on a specific tissue site below the skin’s surface, there’s no damage to the upper layers of the skin and adjacent issue.
HIFU may not be appropriate for everyone. In general, the procedure works best on people older than 30 with mild-to-moderate skin laxity.
People with photodamaged skin or a high degree of loose skin may need several treatments before seeing results.
Older people with more extensive photo-aging, severe skin laxity, or very saggy skin on the neck aren’t good candidates and may need surgery.
HIFU isn’t recommended for people with infections and open skin lesions at the target area, severe or cystic acne, and metallic implants in the treatment area.
